Turks and Caicos Health Foundation Unveils Rebranding, Expands Holistic Care Services
On Monday, April 15th, the Turks and Caicos AIDS Awareness Foundation (TCAAF) made a significant announcement, revealing its transformation into the Turks and Caicos Health and Wellness Foundation (TCHWF) to a diverse audience comprising supporters, members, media, government departments, and partnering NGOs.
Established in 2003, TCHWF is a registered non-profit organization in the TCI and the United States, focusing on addressing broader health and social issues driven by intersecting factors and service disparities in the TCI.
During the unveiling ceremony, Dr. Dawn O’Sullivan, who provides medical care to persons living with HIV (PLHIV) through the Foundation, shed light on its origins. She emphasized the importance of support for all individuals living with chronic diseases and those feeling excluded or stigmatized. TCHWF aims to provide holistic care to these populations, offering medical consultations and various comfortable spaces at its new office.
Nurse Nora Tyndall outlined the Foundation’s current services, including improved access to treatment, medical consultations, and support for pregnant women living with HIV. TCHWF’s new mandate, “Linking Lives, Transforming Communities,” emphasizes its mission to connect individuals to vital services and experts.
Executive Director Anansa Jervis underscored the Foundation’s commitment to promoting access to quality health services in the Turks and Caicos Islands. This involves integrating HIV and non-HIV services and providing linkage to various support services, including youth empowerment, domestic violence support, and mental health services.
Giovanni Delancy, a Board Member, concluded the ceremony by expressing gratitude and emphasizing the Foundation’s ongoing efforts to raise awareness and education about HIV/AIDS and other diseases, emphasizing the importance of making a difference in the community.
