We believe in the power of education and the importance of fostering a love for reading. That’s why we were honored to host a Read-A-Thon at Iris Stubbs Primary School, a six-week initiative dedicated to encouraging literacy, building confidence, and making reading an exciting journey for students.
The Read-A-Thon was more than just a challenge; it was a celebration of learning. Students eagerly embraced the opportunity to explore new books, expand their imaginations, and develop stronger reading habits. Their dedication was inspiring, and we couldn’t be prouder of their accomplishments!
The enthusiasm shown by these young readers has been truly remarkable. Seeing students prioritize reading, share books, and celebrate their progress has reinforced the importance of literacy in shaping bright futures.
“At Sailrock South Caicos, we are proud to support initiatives that empower young minds and foster a love for learning. The Read-A-Thon at Iris Stubbs Primary School was a fantastic opportunity to inspire students to embrace reading, build confidence, and develop lifelong literacy skills. Seeing their enthusiasm and dedication was truly rewarding, and we look forward to continuing our commitment to education and community development,” says Stacey-Ann W. Albert, Director of Human, Culture, and Community Affairs.
“Sailrock South Caicos is committed to supporting education and empowering young minds. According to Andre Boersma, Managing Director, “We look forward to continuing our efforts to inspire a lifelong love of reading in the community.”
“A Reader lives a thousand lives before he dies, said Jojen. The man who never reads lives only one,” said George R.R. Martin.
“The Read-a-thon at Iris Stubbs Primary School, in partnership with Sailrock, was a fantastic initiative that ignited a love for reading among the students! It was inspiring to see how this event transformed reading from a task into an exciting adventure, with students eagerly exchanging books and striving to be among the top readers.
Beyond the competition, the real victory lies in the enthusiasm and engagement fostered by this initiative. Encouraging students to prioritize reading over playtime is a remarkable achievement, which has prompted the school to continue with this program. When children develop a passion for reading, they unlock endless possibilities for learning and growth,” according to Mrs. Tka Francis, Grade 2 teacher and SPIRE Coordinator.
The Iris Stubbs Primary School community would like to thank Sailrock South Caicos for their generous support of our recent read-a-thon. Their support played a key role in making this event a resounding success, and they are deeply grateful for their commitment to fostering a love of reading among the students.
“The Read-A-Thon was more than just an event; it was a celebration of our students’ dedication to daily reading. Through this initiative, we encouraged emerging readers to gain confidence in their abilities and see reading as an exciting and enriching part of their everyday lives. The Read-A-Thon significantly boosted our students’ interest in reading, cultivating a positive reading culture throughout the school. We would also like to extend a special thank you to the parents and families for their unwavering support and involvement. Your encouragement and dedication were invaluable in making this initiative such a success.
With the support of Sailrock, we have taken a meaningful step in ensuring that our students continue to develop their literacy skills and enjoy the lifelong benefits of reading. Together, we are making a lasting impact on our community’s future”, said Ms. Earleen Elliott, Principal.
