TCI’s latest centenarian receives telegram from King Charles III
Turks and Caicos: Hadassa Smith (seated) is surrounded by loved ones as she marked a birthday milestone- she turned 100 years old on November 23, 2022. The Turks and Caicos
The Turks and Caicos Islands has a new centenarian. Hadassa Smith celebrated her 100th birthday on November 23.
Mrs Smith was born in Bottle Creek, North Caicos.
According to the Office of the TCI Governor, it took her 90 or so years to move from North Caicos to Providenciales.
The Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands, who took flowers to her home also delivered the first “Telegram” received in TCI, from the King, passing on his and the Queen Consort’s warmest congratulations and heartfelt wishes. The card was signed by the King and Queen.
Two of Hadassa’s daughters and granddaughters were present.
The TCI Governor said he is uncertain what the family trick is with regard to longevity (and Mrs Smith wasn’t giving away her secret!) but he was told by her daughters that her siblings also lived to a grand old age, with one reaching 103.
