TCIAA Implements Credit Card-Only Policy at TCI Airports
The Turks and Caicos Islands Airports Authority (TCIAA) has announced a transition to a cashless payment system across all its facilities, effective April 1, 2024. This means that cash will no longer be accepted for any transactions within TCIAA-operated areas.
However, it’s important to note that cash will still be accepted at the country’s six international airports and at vendors within each airport. The cashless policy specifically applies to transactions within TCIAA-managed facilities, such as car park fees, airport ID issuance, and other services provided directly by TCIAA.
Nikeva Ariza, Manager of Corporate Affairs and Communication at TCIAA, clarified that the press release refers to TCIAA as an entity and not to the individual airports or their vendors, over which TCIAA has no control.
The decision to transition to a cashless system is aimed at streamlining operations, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring a smoother and more secure payment experience for customers. While the change may present initial challenges, TCIAA believes that it will ultimately benefit its valued customers.
The TCIAA did not provide further explanation behind the change, but the move aligns with global trends toward cashless transactions and modernization of payment systems in various sectors. Customers are encouraged to use credit cards for transactions within TCIAA facilities going forward.
