Minister of Education, Youth, Sports & Social Services said a number of special programmes will be introduced for troubled youths in the new year.

Making the announcement during a House of Assembly meeting on Tuesday, December 19th, 2023, Taylor said they are working with Dr. Dave Burrows from Nassau, The Bahamas.

“Some of the components of the program will take into consideration the characteristics of troubled youth, who are they and why, understanding the game, street and gang life, how to access and engage troubled youth. We’re also looking at practical examples of successful interventions, organizing follow-up and mentorship programs, youth leadership development for teenagers, mentoring and life coaching for young men,” she said.

Taylor said she wants to reassure the country that as minister of youth she is doing everything she can for the youth of Turks and Caicos Islands.

She added: “I just want to reassure the country that as Minister of Youth we are doing all that we can to ensure that we engage the relevant bodies so that we can provide the necessary support to our young people in partnership with the various entities. At this time, I would like to thank my Permanent Secretary Cheryl-Ann Jones for leading on this initiative as we partner with Mr. Gerry Knowles who is doing a very good job as he actually partnered with us and brought on board Mr. Dave Burrows who will definitely be leading on that end.”
