Six New Constables Sworn In to Strengthen Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force
Today marked a significant moment for the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force as six dedicated individuals took their oaths, pledging to uphold justice, safeguard the community, and serve with unwavering pride and integrity.
The ceremony, held at Police Headquarters on Airport Road, Providenciales, saw the induction of four experienced officers—Germaine Scott, Sandenia Francis, Tyrone Cox, and Blake Hooker—alongside Special Constables Rashaunda Cooke and Raymond Clare.
Commissioner of Police (acting) Christopher Eyre addressed the newly sworn constables, commending the ongoing efforts of the force and emphasizing their vital role in addressing the multifaceted challenges confronting the Turks and Caicos Islands, notably that of illegal migration.
Mr. Eyre expressed empathy towards the humanitarian crisis unfolding in Haiti, where the collapse of the government has led to a surge in prison escapes, impacting neighboring regions. He underscored the importance of fortifying TCI borders amid the influx of illegal migration, highlighting the collaborative efforts underway with law enforcement counterparts.
“In this region, we face the humanitarian tragedy affecting Haiti, and our hearts go out to those affected on that island. Unfortunately, due to the collapse of Haiti’s government, we have seen the prisons being overrun and over 5000 prisoners escaping,” stated Mr. Eyre.
“We also face challenges from illegal migration to our shores,” he continued. “Deputy Commissioner of Police Mr. Rodney Adams and I have been working feverishly to coordinate with other law enforcement colleagues to secure the TCI borders. I am proud of this Force and how we have stepped up to the challenges. I look forward to seeing you and also seeing you excel as part of the team.”
The swearing-in ceremony was attended by Deputy Commissioner of Police Rodney Adams, Assistant Commissioner of Police Kendall Grant, Human Resource Officer Sgt. Tashauna Wilson, and Chairman of the Police Welfare Association Sgt. Jepson Victor, signifying the collective support and camaraderie within the force.
As these six constables embark on their duties, their commitment to serving and protecting the community stands as a testament to the unwavering dedication of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force in ensuring the safety and well-being of all residents.
