Minister of Education Rachel Taylor recently addressed the status of the eagerly anticipated special needs school in Providenciales, acknowledging that while the project faces delays, work is steadily advancing.
During a press conference on February 27th, Taylor disclosed that the tender for the ITT Framework closed on January 31st, providing the successful bidder with the opportunity to meticulously outline and cost the forthcoming work.
Despite refraining from providing a definitive completion date, Taylor offered insights into the future offerings of the school. Once operational, the state-of-the-art facility aims to revolutionize special education services in the TCI, boasting access to 27 purposefully designed rooms catering to various needs.
The ground floor will host amenities such as a music room, sickbay, specialized classrooms for students with autism and ADHD, among others. Additionally, the first floor will accommodate a range of specialized rooms including those for therapy, behavioral support, and specific conditions like Down Syndrome.
Taylor emphasized that upon completion, the specialized school would negate the necessity for families to seek services abroad, ensuring accessibility to essential resources within the TCI.
