Premier C. Washington Misick attended the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force (RTCIPF) Commissioner’s Parade at the Downtown Ball Park, Providenciales, on December 16th.
The Premier was joined by members of his Cabinet who all shared in the pride of seeing the RTCIPF in fine form.
Premier Misick officially handed over the first of two vehicles purchased at the cost of $400K each to Commissioner Trevor Botting and the senior leadership of the force. The vehicles will be an important tool in combatting crime and broader national security. While not responsible directly for policing, the government is committed to provided the resources to combat crime and the ceremony demonstrated this publicly.
“It is my pleasure on behalf of my government, to hand over this vehicle to you Commissioner Botting and the wider RTCIPF. My government and I are keenly aware that this is just another step towards building a more resilient force. My government has pledged to allocate the resources and equip the RTCIF with all that it needs to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour in these islands. As Premier but also as a citizen, it is my honour to make this presentation because we all know, this is for the safety of the people of these islands and all those who call it home” said Premier Misick to mark the occasion.
The Premier and Ministers were able to meet and express the governments thanks to the visiting members of the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF) who have over the last several months, provided a great service to our nation.
During the day’s ceremony, the Premier and Ministers were able to meet the new recruits of the RTCIPF. The diverse group of both women and men, will leave the islands early in the New Year to begin training for their new roles. Members of the government were pleased to meet the large group, wished them every success, and expressed how proud the whole country is of them for taking this step in national service.
