Anguilla: Gov Daniel-Selvaratnam To Become TCI’s First Female Governor
Ms Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam has been appointed Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands in succession to Mr Nigel Dakin CMG. Ms Daniel-Selvaratnam will take up her appointment during June 2023.

Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam, the current governor of Anguilla, will leave office next year to become governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands. Daniel-departure Selvaratnam’s was announced on Thursday by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth, and Development Office. She will replace Governor Nigel Dakin in June 2023.
Daniel-Selvaratnam will be the first woman to hold the Governor’s Office without an acting appointment. It will also be the first time that women have served as governor and deputy governor. Daniel-Selvaratnam expressed her enthusiasm for the new position.
“I am honored to be appointed as the next Governor of the Turks and Caicos Islands. I will be taking up the position in June 2023. Until then I will continue to serve with dedication the people of Anguilla. I am confident that Anguilla will continue to go from strength to strength alongside a new Governor. I look forward to meeting and serving the people of the Turks and Caicos Islands,” she said.
“I am delighted that the 16th Governor will come to us having served as the Governor of Anguilla. I have come to know Her Excellency Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam well over the last two years – indeed she has visited TCI during my time as Governor – and I very much like and respect her as both a colleague and a friend,” he stated.
