Former chief detective in UK, Nick Wallen sworn in as new Director of Turks and Caicos Islands Integrity Commission
Wallen is a highly experienced investigator and retired Senior Police Officer, who spent almost 13 years in the Metropolitan Police Force. As a Detective Chief Superintendent in the West Yorkshire Police, he was responsible for all the force’s investigations into homicide and other major crimes.
As a PIP4 Accredited Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) Wallen led on a multitude of significant enquiries including the murders of MP Jo Cox and School Teacher Ann Maguire. As a member of the National Police Chiefs’ Council’s Homicide Working Group he played a leading role in developing national strategies in Homicide investigations.
He was active in the world of Professional Standards and led and conducted complex enquiries involving corrupt officers and organised criminals seeking to disrupt police activity.
As a Senior Leader he oversaw West Yorkshire’s Protective Services Crime Department, its people, its budget and its strategic direction delivering justice for the victims of the most serious of crimes.
In January 2020, Wallen transitioned from the police into the world of retail, joining Walmart as a Senior Global Investigator where he led complex investigations either within the business or directed against it. As a Senior Manager within ASDA’s Ethics & Compliance Team he also had responsibility for the leadership and management of significant investigations as well as providing advice and support to the Company`s executive when critical events occur.
