The Office of the Governor in the Turks and Caicos Islands is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Virginia Clerveaux as the Permanent Secretary within the Office of the Governor. Dr. Clerveaux’s public service journey began in 1997 as a graduate teacher in the Ministry of Education. She holds a Diploma in Education from Shortwood Teachers College in Kingston, Jamaica, and has had a distinguished career in education.
Dr. Clerveaux’s academic achievements include a Bachelor’s degree from the University of the West Indies (UWI), Mona Jamaica, a Master’s of Philosophy in Geography from UWI, and a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from Gunma University in Japan, supported by a Monboshei Scholarship from the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA). She has also earned certifications from organizations such as ICPS, CDEMA, and FEMA.
Throughout her career, Dr. Clerveaux has made contributions to disaster management, with roles at The British Red Cross and CDEMA, and leadership at the Department of Disaster Management and Emergencies (DDME) during challenging times marked by severe storms.
In 2021, Dr. Clerveaux was appointed as the Deputy Permanent Secretary in the National Security Secretariat (NSS), where she played a role in areas such as maritime sovereignty, food security, cybersecurity, disaster resilience, and Critical National Infrastructure (CNI).
With over two decades of experience, Dr. Clerveaux brings extensive knowledge, diverse skills, and a network of public-private partnerships developed through collaborations with local, regional, and international entities.
Reflecting on her appointment, Dr. Clerveaux expressed gratitude for the trust placed in her and acknowledged the support of mentors, family, and friends. The Governor, Her Excellency Dileeni Daniel-Selvaratnam, congratulated Dr. Clerveaux, highlighting her experience, track record, and dedication to public service.
