Detectives of the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force have launched an investigation into an Aggravated Burglary report made yesterday evening (November 07th).
Based on preliminary investigations, at around 8:29 p.m., officers were dispatched to an area in Long Bay, Providenciales, where they responded to a motor vehicle accident report.
While on the scene, officers were alerted to a report of an aggravated burglary.
Based on the information received, the officers initiated an investigation. During this process, a masked, armed suspect fired a shot in the direction of the officers, who returned fire.
The suspect managed to escape.
The RTCIPF can confirm that two adults and a minor were in the house at the time of the incident. They were physically unharmed.
Several valuables, including a vehicle, were stolen.
The vehicle has since been recovered.
The public is being asked to contact 911, the closest police station, or call Crime Stoppers at 1- 800-8477 and anonymously give any information on this incident or any illegal activity.
