A Vision for Change: Solenis Pool Solutions and Beaches Turks and Caicos collaborate on public school makeover project

“Oh, there are numbers on this hopscotch, and the colours are pretty!” exclaimed Kemuel Talbot, kindergarten student at the Enid Capron Primary School. Kemuel was one of the students who benefitted from an exciting makeover at the school in Five Cays, Providenciales. This venture was made possible through a partnership between Beaches Turks and Caicos and Solenis Pool Solutions People Extending a Caring Hand (PEACH) Project.

This initiative involved a group of volunteers from Solenis Pool Solutions PEACH Project and Beaches team members along with teachers and parents from Enid Capron, joining hands and hearts to improve the learning environment.

The early phase of the project saw the teachers along with the Minister of Education, Youth, Sports and Community Services, Honourable Rachel Taylor and members of the PEACH Project teams clearing the grounds and cleaning surfaces. The second phase included the construction of benches and refurbishing of old ones, the painting and decoration of play spaces. A large mural with a sunbeam design in a myriad of colours was the bonus attraction.

“The mural has become an accent point for the students and their parents. It has brightened the property and is a captive visual portrayal of the school’s motto – Reaching for the Stars. Commendations must go to the leadership of this school as they along with Beaches Turks and Caicos and the Sandals Foundation team continue to transform the learning opportunities for our children,” Taylor noted.

Beaches Turks and Caicos’ Managing Director, James McAnally said, “Being able to see the transformation for the students at the school is something that we are happy to have accomplished. The creative plans of all stakeholders involved has borne fruit for the development of all our students and the other students to come. This PEACH project was a banner event that has shown the true essence of teamwork for the growth in education here in the Turks and Caicos Islands.”

While acknowledging the partnership with the different stakeholders, Vice Principal of the institution, Nelene Swann noted, “We are grateful for the continued partnership with Beaches Turks and Caicos, the Sandals Foundation and our newest supporter, Solenis Pool Solutions PEACH Project. The work that we were able to accomplish in such a short timeframe augurs well for what we can accomplish whenever we work as a team.”

Project Manager of the PEACH Project, Marco Grelli shared, “After four years we have been able to resume our PEACH Project operations, and we are happy that we were able to get it done here in the Turks and Caicos Islands. The level of creativity that we were able to produce was due primarily to the role of the teachers, the Sandals Foundation volunteers at Beaches Turks and Caicos, and the community at large. This was one of the most meaningful experiences for the Solenis Pool Solutions team.”
