House of Assembly building will be ready by January 2024
Minister for Physical Planning and Infrastructure Development, Jamell Robinson has confirmed that the House of Assembly (NJS Francis Building) will be ready by January 2024. Robinson said, “I can confirm
Robinson said, “I can confirm that the House of Assembly will be ready early in the New Year. We aren’t talking about early February; we’re talking early January he said during a House of Assembly meeting on Tuesday, December 19th, 2023 at the temporary location at H.J.Robinson High School auditorium.
“Finally the children of the HJ Robinson high school and the wider Grand Turk community will have their community centre and auditorium back for the purposes which were originally intended,”.
The Minister for PPID said his ministry will ensure that everything is done right so the House can now meet at their rightful home.
“That’s good news! Yes, it took a little while, but guess what? We’re here, so we will only need that six week windows between meetings so we don’t have to be here ever again and we can meet in the rightful home, the people’s House across the pond there,. We will fix the bridge and fix the road, fix the entrance and fix everything and then it will be like, are we in Turks and Caicos or are we in the White House.”
He continued: “That is to come very soon and I am confident enough that it progressed far enough, andt when we get the chance and persons are here we could arrange for a team to take the walk through and get a proper update because the audio system is in, the fire and safety system is in. They’re just cleaning up and clearing up and they’re checking the AC system so that we don’t have no issues with the AC. We’re getting closer to being back in the people’s House and for some of us it’s going to be the first time going to the people’s House.”
