#TurksandCaicos, December 29, 2023 – For illegally having and driving around with a firearm, he elected against his lawyer’s advice, to be tried without a jury in the Grand Turk Supreme Court.

His Lordship, Hon Justice Davidson Kevin Baptiste found MIKHAIL HINSON guilty on November 15th 2023 and deferred the sentencing for one month until 15th December.

However, after having heard submissions from King’s Counsel for the defendant, Mr. Oliver Smith and the office of the Director of Public Prosecution, the matter was further adjourned to Wednesday December 20th, 2023.

It was just before Christmas that the former police officer was given the mandatory minimum of seven years at the Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (DCR) or His Majesty’s Prison ( HMP) for his crime.

Already, we have learned that the ex-police intends to appeal the judge’s decision.
